THE BOOTH CENTRE

ABOUT: a community centre run with and for people affected by homelessness.

THE CHALLENGE: The Booth Centre produces an Impact Report every year, which are normally filled with photos of their busy and creative centre. But that wasn’t possible in 2020 because of COVD-19. So they asked Sketchnotes UK whether we could turn a series of videos with their clients into visual case studies of their work.

WHAT THEY SAID:The annual report is one of the most visually accessible and engaging I've seen, in particular thanks to the work you and the Booth Centre team have put in to this over the last few months. Thank you 👍” – Andrew Morris, Head of Risk at Bruntwood and Trustee of the Booth Centre

BLCF

BEDFORDSHIRE AND LUTON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (BLCF)

ABOUT: BLCF is a charity that builds partnerships that connect donors with local projects to strengthen the communities in Bedfordshire and Luton.

THE CHALLENGE: BLCF came to Sketchnotes UK as they were looking for a simple way to communicate each of the stages a charity would go through in order to be considered for one of their grants.

The Foundation is on a journey to make their grantmaking process more transparent and accessible to the local charities they serve. They wanted something that was easy to understand, that would demystify each stage of the process.

WHAT THEY SAID:That is amazing – it’s startling how having it as a visual process just makes it easier to follow!” – Fozia Irfan, former CEO of BLCF.

CRAFTA

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION: CraftA creates arts and crafts projects to provide alleviation from loneliness and boredom. It fosters social cohesion by creating projects in community centres and now online.

THE CHALLENGE: CraftA were looking for illustrations to use for their “Yarn Tales” initiative. Summit Fundraising

SUMMIT FUNDRAISING

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Summit Fundraising is led by Louise Morris. As a former Fundraising Director, a current trustee, and from extensive work with charity CEOs and Boards Louise has a great perspective from both sides – understanding the challenges of charity leadership as well as of fundraisers. This is crucial for successful major donor programmes.

WHAT THE CLIENT SAID

One of the highlights of my year has been working with the talented sketch-noter Mandy Johnson, who is also a former (very talented!) fundraiser.

I asked her to bring to life a new 5 step model I developed to help charities raise more major gifts by focusing on major donors as.............people. It sounds obvious doesn't it! But often we focus so much on our targets we don't focus on the relationships.

I think Mandy did a pretty amazing job!
